The last day of term!
Dear parents, carers, and friends of MPS,
It barely seems possible that another year has gone by. We have packed in so much – it’s hard to know where to begin!
Firstly, thank you for your support – we really appreciate your efforts from home to support us on a daily basis, as well as for our trips, WOW days and one-off events. A special thank you too, to those of you who volunteer for us. This not only supports our pupils to make academic progress, but to enrich their experiences and, ‘put the icing on the cake’.
This, of course, is supplemented by the excellent work of our regular volunteers (many of whom do not have children at our school), reading champions, PTA and Governing Board – thank you so much – we couldn’t do it without you!
Finally, I am sure you will want to join me in thanking all our school staff – both those who work behind the scenes; cooking, cleaning, supporting IT etc., and those more visible members of the team you see on a daily basis. We are very lucky to have a dedicated staff who very genuinely care about your children and our school. They go above and beyond to support the children to have the best outcomes – both academically and socially.
As they leave us, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Yau and Mr Lawrence for their service to Mulbarton Primary, and wish them all the very best in their new adventures.
Good luck too to all our Year 6 pupils, and other leavers, who we wish all the very best in their new schools – we hope you have enjoyed your time at MPS and look back to remember us fondly.
Looking forward to September, you will have seen our exciting news regarding our collaboration with Treetops Nursery. We are delighted they will be on site.
I am now also able to let you know that we are looking forward to welcoming Ms Vontzalidou and Miss Harte to our Year one team. Ms Vontzalidou will join us in Bumblebees class as their teacher on Thursday and Friday. Miss Harte will be maternity cover for Miss Sergeant in Ladybirds class from October half-term, but will be in school one day a week from September, so we can start to get to know each other, and to ensure a smooth handover.
Can I also take this opportunity to wish you all a safe, joyous and restful summer holiday.

Visit from Richard O'Neill
Last Friday we were delighted to invite award-winning author and master storyteller, Richard O’Neill into school for the day. He spent time with every year group, sharing his own, original stories as well as talking about his life as a Romani Gypsy and sharing stories passed down through the generations of his family.
To celebrate Gypsy, Roma, Traveller (GRT) month, all classes spent the day learning more about GRT culture and heritage.

School lunches
Look out for an email in the summer holidays, notifying you that the lunch menus are live on WisePay. Please remember to order by 12pm on Friday 30th August, if you would like your child to have a meal on the first week back.

Music lessons in September
We have a number of peripatetic teachers that come into school to carry out music lessons, such as piano, woodwind and guitar. We also have a Uke Club that runs after school. If you are interested in your child having lessons in school, please click the links below and contact the teachers directly.

Cool Milk
From September, we will only be offering the Cool Milk scheme to children in Reception classes.
Gates
From September, Year 1 children are encouraged to use the Long Lane gate in the mornings. At the beginning of term, we will ensure there are familiar adults from the Reception base to greet them. If you are concerned your child will struggle with the walk from the Long Lane gate, you are welcome to say goodbye to them at the Reception gate, and they can walk around the outside of the building to enter the Year 1 classrooms using the external doors.
School garden mornings
We will be holding 2 gardening mornings on 31st July and 16th August, 10-12 noon. Various gardening jobs will be available. We will have access to our tools, which are child-sized, so if you’d like your own equipment, please bring it with you. Parents are required to supervise their children at all times. Please bring your own refreshments. Toilets will be available.
Mulbarton football sessions
The Mulbarton Wanderers and Belles Youth Football Club will be adding a fourth team to its Under-11 age group (Year 6 from September 2024). There will be an open training session for girls and boys on Sunday 28th July, 10am start, at Orchard Park in the village (behind the scout hut). Year 5s are also welcome. If your daughter or son does not currently play for Mulbarton and would like to come along, please contact Graham Bunting on 07737 321008. More sessions will be held before the start of the season in September.

The PTA AGM will be held on Wednesday 2nd October at 7.30pm.
