Year 5 – Highlights

Spring term

The children have enjoyed learning about the plague and its various gruesome symptoms! They have been able to link this event with the Peasants’ Revolt during the Medieval period. They wrote some brilliant newspaper reports in English based on this and the class book, Fire, Bed and Bone.

They had an opportunity to make pottage (a classic peasant dish) and were even brave enough to taste it. To our surprise, some even asked for more.

Although our PE has been developing their skills in gymnastics, we have been lucky enough to have Ian from Chance to Shine deliver a cricket lesson, which was well received.

In Maths, we have focused on fractions. This has been quite a challenging unit and we are very proud of the children’s resilience and progress.
